We didn't win :(

Well we sadly didn't win...
We had a knock out system, and lost our second battle :( We annihilated the first person (called simon hrhr) but lost the second one against mr ross... Well maybe sumtime again

Heres our code. Wish us luck for our Competition tomorrow :)

well to start the rules said that we have to wait 5seconds soo we added a clock of 5secs, this made our robot wait until the time was over. we now want to loop everything else that we program so were gonna put a loop in and every thing else inside it. for our robot not to fall out of the ring we had to add a light sensor. we added a motor program so it would reverse when it senses white ring. we had to see what the brightness of the reflection of white was soo we got the robot nxt to sense the percentage of the reflected light by placing the robot onto the black parts and on the white ring. the result was that black only reflected 20% and white 50%. We calibrated the lightsensor to 25 so when the reflected light level is higher than 25 it reverses. the button program was pritty easy to do we chose the bumped selection, if it is to be bumped it will reverse as you can tell becouse of the motor program in the side of the button program. now we need to add the sonic sensor we put it inside the buton progam so if the button isnt pressed it will do the sonic sensor program. when the robot senses another robot it will go towards it and try push it off the arena other than that it will rotate and till it senses another object to make sure that it wouldnt sense another object than the other robot we measured the arena and programmed it to sense things within a range of 50cm

New Wall!

After several testfights we decided to change our "wall" The 1 piece that was sticking out was a major problem. Every Robot that used a claw to lift us, won quiet easy. Our wall is flat now preventing us from getting lifted very easy.

Ok. We tried to build our robot as robust as possible. E.G. No parts that break off easily. We should win front to front battles really easy.

+ Strong from front to front
+3 motors! PUSH PUSH PUSH

- doesn't turn that fast
- to heavy in the front
- easy to tip over from the side

OPTIONS!!!!

we now have a few options on were to put our claws
1- a claw to screw with the other robots sensors, place on top hanging out the side of the robot
2-like a hand out the back of the robot so wen the buttons pushed the robot attaching from behind gets stuck and pushed backwards
3-on the side so wen the buttons pushed the robot swings around and catches the robot with the claw
4 or in the front so theres on escape wen we attack another robot head on

heres what the robot looks atm

so far soo good most of the time each practice fight has gone our way so we are currently continuing on with our main idea and no major changes are needed....... so far!!
the supersonic is as low as we could get it we measured the ring and set our sonics distance of less than 50cm we place it in the arena against a robot picked it up good and as long as no1s to close to the ring they wont interfere.

This is the Belly of Our Beast

we tested our code for the light sensor we put the robot in the arena and sensed the black and white reflection % and programmed it we tested it in the arena by its self and it fall out we put it down to not being able to sense the white light so we uped the relection rate put it back in the arena and it worked great the rotations back where just enough so it woudnt fall out of the arena, next we tested it with a robot in the arena the result was our code for light sensor is complete.

Button on the Back

added bottom on the back thinking about add claws to it and when it gets attacked from behind it will reverse and catch the robot in the claws. we programmed it and put it in the ring it started moving round and we tapped the button so we could test our code which worked but reversed so much it fall of they ring, we reprogrammed it to 4 wheel rotations which seems to work fine and didnt fall out of the arena on the second test.

~updated~

since last time we have tried to put more weight at the bottom, so we moved the nxt back and down closer to the motors. other things we trying are placement of the sound sensor on the nxt and a side frame

the wall..

this is the frame of the wall then the wall that we added, the robot has a bita weight to it so it shouldn't flip as easy.

light sensor placement

as said before the light has replaced the wheel so here is a view of it

more pics of our robot

test BATTLE!!!

just had a test pushing battle between toby and zacs robot,
1st one they rolled us 2nd and 3rd rolled each other, but seems we have more power. more battles we had better of we were getting.

changes

we removed the wheel we had put in the middle for support as we have weighted down the back with the nxt box, we replaced it withe the light sensor that has side sheilds to stop it being interfered with. we also decided that the free turning back would cause a problem so we made it connect to the main front and stoped it from freely turning, we built a frame on the front so we can add some kind of pushing wall which will be added soon

Our robot

hi
both shaun and simon are going to create the ultimate wining robot of all time =)
at the moment all we will post is a image becouse our ideas are TOP SERCRET!!!!! but as a basic idea our robot will be a powerfull pushing machine.....
